Pregnant Endangered Sea Dragon

I love sea horses!

"A weedy sea dragon at the Georgia Aquarium has something to celebrate this Father's Day. One of the rare creatures is pregnant for only the third time ever at a U.S. aquarium, aquarium officials said." Read the rest of the article.

When we were in Kailua Kona, Hawaii last October I really wanted to stop at the Sea Horse Aquafarm there. Unfortunately, we were only there for a day and spent the time scuba diving. You can even buy sea horses from them! If I lived right next to the ocean, it's something I would consider but alas I don't.

Those creatures are so other-wordly...so delicate and frilly.

My mental image of the ocean is overwhelmingly menacing..I'm a Sharknut so 3 decades of filling my head with images of JAWS.

That being sdaid, in the past few decades documentarians (for the most part) have demythologized Sharks and turned them back into FISH...for which I am appreciative.

Now the Oriental appetite for Shark Fin Soup and groundup boner pills has sharks teetering on the edge...once that balance is out of whack the Oceans may never recover.

So my point was that when I see those little fancy Seahorsey thingamabobs I get all warm and fuzzy...and the water becomes a much nicer place to visit.

I'm a shark nut too. All those Discovery channel Shark Week! shows and various shark movies heh. The very first time I went scuba diving I saw a shark. But it was in the Caribbean and so the water is so clear that you can see forever. It actually helped me overcome some of my fear of being in the water with them. I couldn't scuba dive here in the NW as friends who do say the visibility is very poor. My fear is I'd be scuba diving and some big anything would pop into my visual range 10 feet from me and I'd have a heart attack. =O
