Republican William Ruckelshaus Endorses Obama

William D. Ruckelshaus, a lifelong Republican who lives in my neck of the woods came out today to endorse Obama for president.

From CNN: “Senator Obama’s ability to attract not only Democrats, but also Republicans and Independents, makes him uniquely qualified to build the broad coalitions needed to address our nation’s challenges,” said Ruckelshaus in a statement.

Wonder how the Republicans like them apples?

"Wonder how the Republicans like them apples?"

They dont give a damn, thats what. What even makes you think that this matters to Republicans at all? Ruckleshaus has no influence, no relevancy, no following in the Republican party these days. Most Republicans dont even know who the hell he is, and the few that do know who he is, hardly knew that he is still alive!

Ruckelshaus and his wife play both side of the fence regularly. A quick check of their FEC and Washington State PDC shows this without question. Christine Gregoire, Ron Sims, Larry Phillips, Hans Dunshee, Norm Dicks, Joe Lieberman and even Obama. But what did you expect from people using thier corporate matches from their Venture capital firm, Costco and BFI.

Oh and the record shows that Ruckelshaus first donated a Grand to Obama on 12/31/2007. Big announcement 4 Months later, right?. If Obama tanks after the Keystone state, Bill and Jill will be stroking checks to Clinton. Why? Because he will be lobbying these folks for Federal Funds for the Puget Sound Recovery group he is heading.

He is protecting his investments. If McCain is elected, everything is OK. But, if Obama is elected and starts nationalizing industry and doing global warming crackpot stuff, Ruck has an insurance policy.

Hey, it is always about the $$$$$$$'s.

Anon pasted some of the responses from Sound Politics. I think looking for Democratic meat. =P

My fault. I cut and pasted it from "Sound Politics", first to a word pad file then added the address to the "Sound Politics" page under the replies. My intention was to provide a link back to the sound politics page.

Then I highlighted all that, or so I thought. I clicked on copy and pasted it here.

Problem was that in the word pad file I failed to highlight the web address at the bottom (a regrettable error that happens from time to time).

I posted the replies here, not knowing untill now that I failed to provide the link.

ah, no worries Anon. Sometimes I get some folks from Sound Politics trying to bait me. Apologies that I lumped you in that category. I don't mind differing PoVs at all. Thanks for clarifying that.

I agree that Ruckelshaus can play both sides, though he is primarily 'Republican' in his stances and support. It was primarily in response to some of the posts saying no Republican would vote Democrat, but some Dems may vote McCain because of the 'lying' Dem candidates.
