NARAL has put up a map showing all the Washington state pharmacies. By colored flag, it indicates which pharmacies 1. dispense Plan B 2. do not dispense Plan B 3. have at least one pharmacist on staff that refuses to dispense Plan B (but it is stocked at the store).
I like this site. My problem is with NARAL's messaging behind the purpose of this site. They want folks to go into those pharmacies and give them a hard time about not dispensing Plan B. To me, that's like saying go into a church and explain to the Christians why they should be atheists. I highly doubt anyone is going to change their minds and practices. Instead, it should be a tool to inform Plan B purchasers and for those of us that would boycott such a store. Under Washington law as it currently stands, and has been supported by the courts, pharmacists have the right to opt out if it goes against their religious ideals.
One thing of interest is some argue the burden placed on those in rural communities and possible limited access. I noticed that individuals living in Goldendale will have to drive 60 miles to get to a pharmacy that does dispense Plan B as the one and only pharmacy in their town doesn't. There are 4 main cities in all that I found folks will have to drive at least 25 miles out of their way to get the drug. So the good news in that is that most Washingtonians won't be too inconvenienced, but the argument that rural folks won't be limited isn't quite accurate.
