My husband and I both love and collect quotes. I alternate between a bunch of them for my email signature as my way of sharing some of them. Here's a new one I've added to the collection. If you have any good ones, please send them along.
But Oh! The blessing it is to have a friend to whom one can speak fearless on any subject; with whom one's deepest as well as one's most foolish thoughts come out simply and safely. Oh, the comfort - the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person - having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are, chaff and grain together; certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then with the breath of kindness blow the rest away. --- Dinah Maria Mulock Craik
I love this quote because it's how I absolutely feel with my husband. And over the years, with a mix of risk and sifting, we have this with our closest friends. And once you've had this honesty and the freedom of it, I don't think it's possible to live meaningfully without it from then on. You will know what is possible and what is missing, if you know what I mean.
