A friend of mine sent me a link to mosquito ring tones:
The Mosquito Ringtone came about after a crafty British man who invented a device called The Mosquito, the Mosquito is a device that emits a very high frequency tone meant to annoy teenagers (adults are unable to hear the tone). Some crafty students decided to convert the same technology into a ring tone that only they (teenagers) could hear! By utilizing this free ringtone, you can get phone calls and receive text messages while in class or school without teachers knowing it.
So the page links what frequency folks can hear at various ages. If I keep my speaker at the volume I normally do for sound, I can hear 17.7khz. If I crank my speakers up all the way, I can hear all of them except the 22.4khz. The friend who sent it to me can only hear the 8-12khz and they are the same age as me. What can you hear?
I wonder if the kids are actually using this for their cell phones? (My husband and I are one of the last people on the planet without a cell phone.)

This could be used to card underage kids!
My ears crap out @ 14.9khz, which is better than I expected. Then again, my speakers might not be able to hit that frequency...I will convince myself of that and feel better.
Lol when I replied to my friend that sent it to me I was like "it's hell getting old" and then when he told me he could only hear the 8-12khz I was like "I totally feel better!" =P He said he was happy to make me feel better at his expense.
I like the carding idea! Revenge of the oldsters.
My cut off is around 16kHZ...its annoying...I alweays hear way too much hiss in recordings.
